New contractors are getting into the industry everyday, usually after attending a one or two day how-to seminar. The sheer number of companies offering decorative concrete should prompt one to ask the question, “How do I choose one contractor over another?” Of course, there are several factors to consider including pricing, but the #1 criterion should always be experience. Anyone can underbid another’s price in order to secure a job, but what is the customer really getting for less money? Often the answer is inferior craftsmanship and sometimes a substandard or outright disastrous outcome. The learning curve for producing quality decorative concrete is long and, quite frankly, a contractor who has only recently gotten into the market cannot hope to do the same quality work as a highly experienced one.
